Our
Work
Signpost Collective began as a few university friends befriending uncles and aunties selling tissue packets.
Now, our volunteers in Signpost Collective continue to befriend Singapore's informal street sellers while also raising awareness of their joys and struggles.
Operations: Weekly Befriending

We have built a strong community of trained volunteers who walk around various neighbourhoods and chat with the informal street sellers in the area. We aim to lend a listening ear as sellers chat about how they've been doing in the past week. Building rapport with sellers in this manner allows us to identify the issues they face; we can then directly help sellers with some minor tasks or refer them to social service organisations for more support.
During holiday seasons, we also help to distribute care packages with essential food and sanitary products to support their daily living needs.
Advocacy: Awareness & Research

We aim to increase awareness, dispel misinformation regarding the informal street seller community, and educate members of the public on how we can best support them. We achieve this through social media outreach efforts, hosting learning journeys or talks with organisations such as the National Youth Council, and conducting research with partner organisations.
Ultimately, we seek to debunk myths regarding sellers and highlight their unique stories and backgrounds. Our goal is for the public to better understand the socio-ecological systems surrounding street sellers and regard them with more compassion.
